Walking knots

Walking knots is an ongoing artistic research project that uses sound recording, walking, data tracking, and knotting to translate an embodied journey through landscape into material and sonic forms. The audio clips map moments along the journey, and I translated my walking data into a long string of knots to represent the path. The process of knotting to create the fiber art is part of the inclusion of time and slowness in the piece. Each knot represents 100 steps. The concept takes inspiration from Yakama time balls, Quipu, flaneurs, and sound walks.

The project's chapters are site-specific, with the first taking place in Puglia in April 2025. It focused on more-than-human listening in spaces entangled with human infrastructure.

The second chapter took place in Taipei in October 2025 and focused on shared urban spaces after dark.
